1. The link is not a post link
This is the most common cause by a wide margin. A link to a profile, a Page, a group or a story will not resolve, because none of those is a post containing a video file.
Open the video itself so the URL contains a video or reel identifier, then copy that.
2. The video is not public
Friends-only, group-private and custom-audience posts are invisible to anything that is not logged in as you. A downloader operates without your session, so it sees exactly what a stranger sees: nothing.
3. The post was deleted or moved
If the original poster removed the video, the file is gone from Facebook's CDN. Old links often keep working for a while from cache and then stop. There is nothing to recover.
4. It is a live stream
An active live broadcast has no finished file yet. Recorded videos of past broadcasts download normally; the stream that is still running does not.
5. Your browser is blocking it
- An ad blocker with an aggressive filter list can block the media request itself.
- Chrome's "insecure download" warning can silently cancel a file. Look for a blocked-download icon in the address bar.
- Data Saver / Lite mode in Chrome queues downloads instead of running them.
6. The tool is rate-limiting you
Repeated attempts in a short window look like abuse. If the first try worked and the tenth did not, wait a few minutes rather than hammering it — retrying immediately tends to extend the wait.
Frequently asked questions
Why did it work yesterday and not today?
Either the post changed (deleted, audience changed) or the link you copied this time is a different kind of page than last time.
Does a VPN break downloads?
It can. Some VPN exits are blocked by CDNs, and switching exit nodes often fixes it instantly.
Should I try a different tool?
Only after checking the link and the privacy setting. Most "tool problems" are link problems.
Try it with a working link
Paste the post link directly — most failures are a link problem, not a tool problem.
