How to download a Facebook video

The whole procedure, from the link to the file on your device.

  1. 1Copy the link to the video

Open the video on Facebook. Copy the address from the browser’s address bar. On a phone, tap Share and then Copy link.

  2. 2Paste it into the box

Open VidTray, put the link in the box at the top of the page and choose Get video. Reading a link takes a few seconds.

  3. 3Choose a file and save it

The page lists the files that are actually available, with the real size and resolution. Choose Download on the one you want.

Choosing between the listed files

Lower numbers are not automatically worse. A 480p file is often a fifth of the size of a 720p one and is perfectly readable on a phone, which matters if you are on mobile data. The size column is the real file size read from the source, not an estimate.

If the result says the video is not public

Facebook decides what a signed-out reader may see. When a video is restricted to signed-in users, there is no way to read it without an account, and this tool will not ask you for one.

If reading the link fails

Facebook changes its pages often and the reader occasionally cannot make sense of one. That is a fault on our side and the page says so. Trying the same link again a moment later frequently succeeds.
